How much info should be in the public profile.  should you allow access to all general information

What do linkin paying members receive or see that the genral public does not?

How much info should be in the public profile. should you allow access to all general information
Imagine that a colleague told me I should know more about you - you would be a good person for me to hire. Does your LinkedIN profile demonstrate this? Your summary should be your bio, or how you would want others to describe you (personality, work ethic, etc). Your work experience builds credibility and longevity, Education demonstrates that you know what you are talking about, Recommendations show that you are someone people would recommend, web links should point to your blog (or twitter, webpage, etc - where ever you ARE online).

What is the section Company Buzz
Company Buzz is an application that allows you to see what people are saying about companies and topics you care about. Company Buzz uses information from your profile such as companies and schools to find relevant discussions on twitter. Company buzz also shows you how frequently your company or topic has been mentioned and the top words associated with your company and the topic. You may add new topics and customize existing topics with new search terms to get just the results you are interested in.

How do I use the Outlook toolbar?
Just so you know I don't use this - I find it distracting & too easy to add people to my addressbook or LinkedIN that I don't actually want to connect with (ie. competitors). In the interest of answer your question, here's a recap of what it does:
The Dashboard helps you keep in touch with your most important contacts by:

* Providing you with updates about your LinkedIn connections when they change their LinkedIn profiles
* Suggesting contacts to invite to join your LinkedIn network based on you ongoing e-mail communications
* Reminding you of important contacts you haven’t exchanged email with recently
* Helping you keep your Outlook Address Book up to date
* Reminding you of email that may require action

Advanced Search on Linked In

I tried an Advanced Search and came up blank. Since I am inputing titles such as VP or Director Human Resources, location, checked industires and groups, what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Advanced Search not working

It's hard to say without seeing your screen Maureen. My guess is you are using too many search fields - as the results will only show in relation to your network. If you only have 2 Director Human Resources in your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degree connections then you will only see 2 listings.... try searching only for the title and the location..... and remember that your network has to grow in order for your search results to grow.

I have 835 connections and when I search for Director Human Resources within 100 miles of my location I get 3,085 results.
